What Are we?

About Us

The Zonta Canada consists of the 22 Zonta clubs and the five districts in Canada united in advocating for rights in Canada to build a better world for women & girls. Zonta International’s mission is to build a better world for women and girls. It shall promote Zonta International’s vision of a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential, where women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men, where no woman suffers from violence.

Districts & Clubs Represented

District 1

The Zonta Clubs of Amherst Area and Halifax.  Delegate representative Carol Dobson (ZC Halifax) and Governor Donna Raycraft (ZC Concord, New Hampshire, USA).

District 2

The Zonta Clubs of Ottawa, Kanata-Stitsville and Montreal. Delegate representative Val Hume (ZC Ottawa) and alternate Elspeth Nickle (ZC Kanata-Stitsville). Supported by Governor Lorraine Abess (ZC Glen Falls, NY).

District 4

The Zonta Clubs of Owen Sound, Stratford, Woodstock, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Hamilton 1, Mississauga, Brampton-Caledon, Central York, Oakville, Toronto, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, ON and Cross Border (Canada-USA).  Delegate representative Nita McCown (ZC Toronto) and alternate Patty Oillies (ZC Hamilton 1).

District 8

The Zonta Clubs of Nanaimo and Victoria. District 8 delegate Anita Kladia Robertsdottir-Lewis from Zonta Victoria, supported by Governor Stephanie Adams (ZC Pocatello, Idaho).

District 15

The Zonta Clubs of Chatham-Kent, Ottawa, and Sault Ste Marie Area.  Delegate representative Wanda Bell (ZC Chatham-Kent) and Gayle Manley (ZC Sault Ste Marie). Supported by Governor Gail Johnson (ZC Pontiac-North Oakland, Michigan).

Zonta USA Caucus

ZONTA USA CAUCUS’s Mission is similar to Canada Caucus with action in the US Congress, its members and committees and by state legislatures. Take action in support of, or in opposition to, proposed or enacted legislation and executive orders and regulations that directly or indirectly impact the lives of women and girls. Promote women’s representation in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men.

Canadian Women’s Foundation

The Canadian Women’s Foundation is a national leader in the movement for gender equality in Canada. Through funding, research, advocacy, and knowledge sharing, we work to achieve systemic change.

We support women, girls, and gender-diverse people to move out of violence, out of poverty, and into confidence and leadership.

Courage 4 Freedom

Project Maple Leaf extends ProjectOnRoute, an initiative of a 16-year-old survivor of human trafficking (commercial sexual exploitation). Project Maple Leaf, supported by Courage 4 Freedom (www.courageforfreedom.org), is taking the next step in bringing greater awareness to human trafficking in Canada.

UN Women is the UN organization delivering programmes, policies and standards that uphold women’s human rights and ensure that every woman and girl lives up to her full potential.

What’s Zonta

Zonta is a leading global organization of individuals working together to build a better world for women and girls. There are 26,103 international members in 1,093 clubs from 32 Districts in 64 countries.  There are various opportunities to be involved in global change at the club and district levels.
